Climate

In Portugal's interior, surrounded by Serra da Estrela mountains. Hot summers, cold winters. Large day–night temperature differences allow slow grape ripening and increase aromatic intensity.

Soil Structure

Granite-based, sandy and mineral. Vines are low-yielding but produce quality grapes.

Local Grapes

Red grape varieties: Touriga Nacional (the region's icon), Jaen (Mencía), Alfrocheiro, Tinta Roriz.

White grape varieties: Encruzado (most prestigious white grape), Bical, Malvasia Fina.

Wines Produced

Balanced, aromatic red wines. White wines with long aging potential. The region's wines are generally known as harmonious and complex.

Taste & Aroma Profile

Red: Cherry, sour cherry, violet, spice, silky tannins.

White: Citrus, mineral, almond, floral textures.

Acidity: Medium–high. Body: Medium. Style: Balanced, elegant, suitable for aging.
