Douro DOC

Climate

Hot, dry summers; cold winters. Diverse microclimates along the Douro River. Vineyards are usually built on slopes in terraces (socalcos).

Soil Structure

White grape varieties: Rabigato, Viosinho, Malvasia Fina, Códega do Larinho.

Wines Produced

Port Wine (sweet, fortified) – the region's global icon. Long-lived, powerful red wines. Smaller quantities of white and rosé.

Taste & Aroma Profile

Red: Dense black plum, cherry, dried fig, cocoa, spice.

White: Citrus, peach, mineral tones.

Acidity: Medium–high. Body: Medium–full. Structure: Mineral, firm tannins, great aging potential.
